Pork_ChopsBEST PORK

Pork Chops
$3.10/lb

Ham
$3.36/lb

It’s a little strange to us that ham is one of the least nutritious types of pork you can eat, but it’s a little more expensive than chops–the second most nutritious. While you’re only saving pennies per pound by opting for loin chops over ham, you’ll benefit hugely from the extra nutrients, and more healthful protein-to-fat ratio.

Round_RoastBEST BEEF

Round Roast
$3.90/lb

Sirloin Steak
$4.99/lb

When it comes to protein-to-fat ratio and density of 10 essential nutrients commonly found in protein, round roast scores slightly better than sirloin. The prices, however, differ significantly: choose the round, and save nearly a dollar a pound.

Updated Registration/Health Form Process

Posted in MCP How To... on December 27th, 2009 by MyClassPro – 1 Comment

A new theory has been tossed around amongst trainers that the detailed Health Questionnaire might be a deterrent to some potential new clients as they don’t want to fill out a long form before signing up for any classes/camps.  With this in mind, we’ve updated the Registration and Health Questionnaire process on MyClassPro.

Here’s the complete scoop…

BASIC ACCOUNTS now have a Liability Waiver which is completely editable by you anytime you need to make any changes.  To edit your Waiver, log into your account and go to Settings>Waiver.  We include a Sample Waiver you can use by clicking on the “Use Sample Waiver” button.
ADVANCED ACCOUNTS also have the Liability Waiver as described above . You will also see a button that allows you to preview your Health Questionnaire in this area. You can choose whether or not the Health Questionnaire should be required or not.  (described further down this article)

For both Basic and Advanced Accounts, clients register with your online scheduling system by filling out a form asking for the basic information (name, address, emergency contact, phone numbers, email, password, postal address, etc.). Included on this form is your Liability Waiver. There is a notation stating that by clicking the submit button, the client fully agrees to the terms and conditions disclosed within the text of the waiver.

ADVANCED ACCOUNTS - If you had a Custom Registration Form, you now have the Custom Health Questionnaire Form which includes all the health fields as your previous form.  You can use the settings located in your account on the Settings Tab within the Settings>Profile area to make the Health Questionnaire required or not requiredBe sure to click the “Save” button to save your changes.

If the Health Questionnaire is required once the client has submitted the Registration Form they are taken directly to the Health Questionnaire.  If they do not fill out and submit the form, they can not view your class list or sign up for classes.  When they log in again, the client is shown a splash page that says: Before you can sign up for our classes, please fill out the required health form. You will only have to repeat this process once per year unless your trainer requires more frequent updates.” The client will be unable to sign up for classes/camps until the completed Health Questionnaire form has been submitted.

If the Health Questionnaire is not required the new Client is allowed to signup and pay for a class/camp.  However a blue alert box is displayed above the class list/calendar that says: “You have not yet filled out our health form.  To assist us with helping you reach your fitness goals, please take a moment to fill out the health form by clicking here.
This box remains visible until the completed Health Questionnaire form has been submitted.

Best Fish & Chicken

CatfishBEST FISH

Farmed Catfish
$2.52/lb

Pacific Halibut
$4/lb

You know you should be eating more fish, but do you know which kind is healthiest? Our favorite sea creatures are rich in omega-3s; relatively low in mercury, PCBs, and dioxins; have decently high protein content; and are ecologically sustainable. With these qualifications in mind, both the Pacific Halibut and Farmed Catfish rank well. But opt for the Catfish, and you’ll save an average of $1.50 a pound.

Chicken_LegBEST POULTRY

Chicken Leg
$1.43/lb

Chicken Breast
$2.36/lb

Eat This, Not That! developed a matrix where they compare all major cuts of beef, pork, poultry and alternative meats through a rigorous equation to assess their core nutritional value. The criteria? High protein-to-fat ratio; density of 10 essential nutrients commonly found in proteins; and low saturated fat concentrations and cholesterol levels. Light chicken meat won out handily over all other cuts, with chicken breast being the best you could buy. But for an almost equally healthy chicken alternative, a dark chicken leg will save you 89 cents a pound—and it scored higher in nutritional value than all cuts of beef except for kidney and liver.

One more thought: You can also opt for a frozen chicken breast, which contains almost identical nutrients at half the price as the fresh breast.

Best Brown-Bagged Fruit, Snack Veggie & Blueberries

Posted in Food News on December 17th, 2009 by MyClassPro – Comments Off

A continuation of our Healthy Eating On A Budget topic.  See more comparisons in our Food News category.

BananaBEST BROWN-BAGGED FRUIT

Banana
$0.61/lb

Red Delicious Apple
$1.21/lb

If you bring your lunch to work every day, it’s smart to toss a fruit in the lunch sack. But which one’s most worthy of your hard-earned money? An apple will give you 14 percent of your day’s Vitamin C and 4 grams of fiber, but a banana, at half the price per pound, offers more Vitamin C and just 1 less gram of fiber.

CarrotsBEST SNACK VEGGIE

Carrots
$0.80/lb

Celery
$0.78/lb

If you’re looking for a super healthy, low-calorie snack, you’ll get more of a nutritional punch from carrots than celery, at practically the same cost per pound. One serving of carrots has twice as much fiber as celery–and 43 times as much Vitamin A!

Yahoo_Cheap_Blueberries_kd.jpgBEST BERRY

Frozen Blueberries
$0.22/oz

Fresh Blueberries
$0.91/oz

The price of fresh fruits out of season is significantly higher than when they’re in season, due to transportation costs. And if you want to get your money’s worth, you’ll need to eat them within three days of buying, so they don’t spoil. One cup of frozen blueberries gives you just as much fiber as the raw variety, and a handful fewer calories. While fresh blueberries offer 18 percent more Vitamin C, that difference isn’t worth the extra cost.

Offer Free Mini-Camps For New Clients Within Existing Boot Camps

Posted in MCP How To... on December 15th, 2009 by MyClassPro – Comments Off

mouse2MyClassPro offers many helpful features.  Using these features in a creative way can give you more control and allows you to offer exciting options to your clients.

For example, you may want to offer a Free Mini-Camp for new clients within an existing boot camp, something like a “Get the first week free” offer.  By using the Class Discounts feature with the “new client only” setting, you can do just that.

Lets say you have an existing Boot Camp that runs for 4 weeks from January 4th through January 29th.  You want to offer 2 free days per week within this camp for new clients only.

First, set up a Class Discount (Classes > Discounts) with a discount amount of 100%, enter a discount code of your choosing (i.e.:  FREEWK ), and then check the option to present this discount to new clients only.

Set up new listings on your schedule that run on:  (as an example)
Monday and Wednesday – week 1    January 4 – 6
Monday and Wednesday – week 2    January 11-13
Monday and Wednesday – week 3    January 18-20
Monday and Wednesday – week 4    January 25-27

with a title of something like New Member Free Trial Mini-Camp.

If the two free days combined are valued at $100, then set the class cost to $100 and use only the Pay Now payment option.  You can also set an attendance limit on these Mini Camps to control how many new clients can attend each week.  Be sure to click the Submit button.

Assign the 100% discount to each of the above camps, then send out your email letting people know of these new Free Trial Mini-Camps including the discount code.  Remember to add a note to let people know these codes are case sensitive!

This results in you being able to assign certain days new people can come and try out an existing camp, plus you’ll be able to refer to the signup list for each Mini-Camp to know exactly how many new people will be attending on the specific days.

The new client will fill out your Registration form and when they sign up for the New Member Free Trial Mini-Camp they will be shown the Discount Code box in which they would  enter the Discount Code.  Once they enter the code… they’re registered and done.

If an existing client tries to sign up for the New Member Free Trial Mini-Camp, they will be shown a price of $100 with only a Pay Now payment option.  (No Discount Code box)  If they don’t complete payment, they will be automatically removed from the camp’s signup list for non-payment and they will be sent an email notification.

If an existing client signs up and DOES pay, you just made an extra $100!
